Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and raised in Sterling, Alaska, Kelly attended Cornerstone University before dropping out of college and returning to Alaska. She worked several jobs, including at a pizza company, gas station, and as a school bus driver. Kelly also became a state freestyle motocross champion before training to become a trucker and eventually being hired by Carlisle Transportation.
As a female trucker, Kelly faces unique challenges in her field. She is one of very few working female truckers and has been featured on the reality television series “Ice Road Truckers” off and on since 2009 during the show’s third season.
